Best Kept Village Competition 2014/2015

The Council have entered the village into the competition again and judging will take place during the first two weeks of July. The judges will be looking at the general appearance of the village, its tidiness and condition of facilities as well as the gardens and hedgerows. The Council would like to thank all those who help to keep the village tidy and maintain the verges and grassed areas.  Could everyone please make a special effort with your gardens and surrounding areas in the hope that we can really promote Carlton this year.

Carlton Vilage Communal Areas

It has been suggested by members of the parish that the Council employs a caretaker to look after the communal areas such as the village garden, Pinfold and grass verges during the Spring and Summer months to keep the village looking tidy.  It is anticipated that the cost to the parish for this service will be approximately £2,340 per year.  The Council have asked AG Services, who are local authority approved and are caretakers to numerous villages including Bellerby and West Witton, to carry out a trial run in the next couple of weeks to see how long it takes to do and what effect it has on the look of the village.  If anyone has any comments to make on the proposal, please contact a member of the Parish Council or email the Clerk on carltontown@parishconnect.co.uk.
