Alzheimer’s Society Befriending Scheme

Volunteers for the Alzheimer’s Society Befriending Scheme help people in the early stages of dementia to get out and about to remain part of the community and pursue their hobbies and interests for as long as they are able to do so. Being a Befriender is not onerous – 2 or 3 hours each week or fortnight can be really beneficial and can make a huge difference to people with dementia, their carers and the befrienders. Volunteers can undertake this role in a flexible way and it is one of the nicest ways of volunteering there is. If you would like to learn more about this very worthwhile role which can take place in your own locality, please contact Anne Brown, Befriending Manager, Alzheimer’s Society, Hambleton & Richmondshire on 01748 850453.

West Scrafton Defibrillator

Thank you to all who have taken part in the various fund raising events for the West Scrafton defibrillator. The machine has been purchased and an appropriate place to site it is being considered. Training courses for local residents on how to use it will be organised in the New Year  - more details to follow.

Would you like to join an Oil Co-operative?

Joining an Oil Co-operative can reduce your bills by up to 10%.  Oil Clubs are bringing financial benefits to people all over North Yorkshire and you could be next.  Joining an Oil Club means that you are bulk-buying fuel to keep prices down and working to protect your local environment.  It’s really simple to sign up and start reaping financial rewards immediately.

Just call Yorkshire Energy Partnership on: 01904 545 02001904 545 020 or email: to speak to one of the specialist Oil Co-ordinators.
